Darvin Ham Sent Anthony Davis Bold Message in Private Meeting with LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers fired Frank Vogel after their disappointing season. Darvin Ham got the job and the opportunity to coach LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and other players on the Lakers roster. Russ may be the hottest topic this offseason, but it seems like Ham is focused on AD, too.

The Lakers were advised to get rid of Davis due to his history of injuries. Ham has a plan and he wants to run the offense through the big man. The new Lakers head coach made these comments during his meeting with LeBron.

“Furthermore, the first-year head coach said one wrinkle he will implement and stick with is having the offense run through Anthony Davis, and James concurred, sources said,” Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports reported. “The team has been encouraged with Davis’ offseason progression and believe he’ll be in optimum shape to avoid serious injuries and carry a heavier load.”

Darvin Ham will get the best of Anthony Davis

Davis’ numbers weren’t that bad. He is prone to injuries and this may be the biggest concern right now. Fans were a bit worried about the fact that AD hasn’t played much basketball. Well, he is taking his time to recover. That’s all.

“Some potential good news for the aforementioned Lakers and the soon-to-be-extension-eligible James: Anthony Davis’ surprising disclosure in mid-June that he hadn’t shot a basketball since early April might have been a blessing in disguise,” Marc Stein reported. “Davis, by all accounts, has been working out with increased diligence ever since his comments generated a wave of strong criticism.”

Rob Pelinka is really happy with the way Davis handles the offseason. According to the Lakers general manager, Davis is having one of the best offseasons of his NBA career.

Davis missed big time due to his injuries but he is trying really hard this time. He is trying to repair the damage and do things differently. LA needs him in the upcoming season.

The Lakers will probably add new, young power this offseason. Veterans weren’t of great help last season. Boosting the defense is also something Ham looks forward to.
