Proposed Blockbuster Trade Sees Lakers Sign $216 Million Star

The Los Angeles Lakers traded for Patrick Beverley and this won’t be the final move for the team. Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka can consider pulling another blockbuster trade and get a brilliant player.

The Lakers were linked to several top players. Kyrie Irving is no longer an option, but Pelinka can still use Russell Westbrook to get other players. A proposed trade gives the Lakers a chance to get Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier. Westbrook will have to go somewhere else after all. The Charlotte Hornets will get Russ, 2027 first-round selection, 2029 first-round selection, and another second-rounder.

“For a team as desperate as the Lakers should be (who knows how long a title window with Anthony Davis and 37-year-old LeBron will remain open), paying this much makes some sense,” Andy Bailey wrote.

“Hayward’s health concerns notwithstanding (he’s averaged fewer than 50 appearances per season the last three years), he obviously spaces the floor better than Westbrook and fits alongside LeBron in positionless forward combos. With AD at the 5 and those two creating, it’s easy to imagine a high-end offense in L.A.”

Blockbuster trade proposal motivates the Lakers to consider more options

Rozier can added a much-needed depth to the offensive end of the ball. He shot 37.4% from the three-point line this past season. Darvin Ham won’t have trouble finding the right role for him. That’s not all. Rozier works great on the defense which makes him a better option than Westbrook in several aspects.

Hayward plays point-forward and he can do several great things on the floor. He can create shots and act as a facilitator, slasher, scorer, and defender. His history of injuries may keep him away from Los Angeles. Pelinka wouldn’t really add someone who struggles to stay healthy. LeBron James and Anthony Davis missed too many games, giving their teammates a hard time on the basketball court.

The Lakers have a few issues to handle right now. Having Russ and Beverley on the same team is quite a challenge. Let’s see how these two work. Russ is staying in LA, right?
