Darvin Ham Issues Big Challenge To Anthony Davis For LeBron James’ Sake

The Los Angeles Lakers fired Frank Vogel after the 2021-22 NBA season. Darvin Ham stepped in as a replacement and he was really excited about the chance to work with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Davis missed a lot of games in the last couple of seasons. He is doing a really good job now, leading the Lakers in LeBron’s absence. Davis’ monster performance against the Detroit Pistons says it all. The Lakers big man delivered 38 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and a steal. Nice, right?

Darvin Ham wants Anthony Davis to maintain his attitude on the basketball court

Head coach Ham respects Davis’ dominance and encouraged him to be this aggressive throughout the entire season. Davis has to maintain his dominant side even after LeBron returns to the basketball court. Can he do this?

“He’s been a big force for us all year, and tonight was no different,” Davis said. “I think it’s extremely important (Davis remaining aggressive), I mean, just trying to sustain Bron when he comes back, being efficient with his minutes and efficient with his wear and tear. AD has to be the leading force, the leading charge, in terms of how we want to play inside-outside basketball, pressure on the rim, pressure in the paint constantly.”

Davis earns words of praise from other players

Kevin Durant watched AD lead the purple and gold to a win earlier this month. He said Davis was one of the better players in the NBA and yes, it was a great praise for the Lakers big man.

“AD has a bad game, I don’t look at it as nothing serious, because he can come out and do this at any given time,” Durant said. “So, regardless of its LeBron out there, Russ (Westbrook), Jrue Holiday, any of the teammates he ever had in his career, this is who he is. So, regardless of a bad game or bad stretch, it doesn’t matter to him. He’s an All-Time great.”

We couldn’t agree more. When healthy, Davis is one of the better players in the NBA. His game is sharp and the Lakers won a title in his first season with the franchise.
