Patriots 2-Time Super Bowl Champ Triggers Lamar Jackson Rumors

The New England Patriots have been linked to Lamar Jackson for a really long time and Jonathan Jones is here to fuel the fire.

Jackson requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens and NFL fans didn’t waste any time. He is an ideal option for the Patriots, right? Jackson is an exceptional player and Meek Mill told Robert Kraft that the quarterback would love to join the Patriots.

“We’re always in the business of getting good players,” Jones said about Jackson on “The Crew” podcast with Josina Anderson. “That’s part of the game. You win with good players. The more good players you can have, the better your team’s gonna be. So, I don’t think we’re ever intentionally turning down good players.”

Patriots would look great with Lamar Jackson at center

It won’t be that easy though. Chad Graff from The Athletic reported that the Patriots won’t do an effort to get Jackson. Head coach Bill Belichick won’t pay $200 million to get him.

Getting Jackson could solve a lot of problems in New England, but they still have Mac Jones. The third-year quarterback didn’t have much success in 2022 and Bailey Zappe could challenge him for the position. Jonathan Jones spoke about Jackson, but he sure likes the Alabama prospect.

“You trying to get spicy,” Jones told Anderson. “I will say this, I will say they offer different things. Two different types of worlds. But you got one player who’s an MVP. … So, that’s not fair to compare apples to oranges, to a guy who’s going into Year 3 to improve, to an MVP candidate in this league.”

In 2022, Jones had 2,997 passing yards and 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 14 games. Zappe finished the season with 781 yards for five touchdowns and three interceptions in four games. It’s interesting to note that Zappe completed 70.7% of his passes in 2022. Will he steal Jones’ job in 2023?

Drew Bledsoe believes that the Patriots should move on with Jones and give him the right weapons.
