Russell Westbrook Takes Subtle Shot At Lakers While Crediting Clippers

Russell Westbrook wasn’t a good fit for the Los Angeles Lakers, but he is definitely happy as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers made a move to get him which happened to be the worst move in recent history. Rob Pelinka and the front office tried to trade the NBA veteran in several occasions, but struggled to find a good trade partner. No one wanted a struggling player who “shoots bricks.” Things changed ahead of the trade deadline and the Lakers removed Westbrook from their roster.

Lakers fans were far from happy. They didn’t want Westbrook on the roster and even called him ‘Westbrick’. It was a disappointing season for both sides. Westbrook wasn’t happy in Los Angeles and the Lakers weren’t happy with his performance either. Pelinka traded Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and a first-round pick to get Westbrook, and obviously, it was a bad call.

Westbrook looks good with the Clippers, Lakers fans didn’t want him on the floor

Russ is a Clipper now. He likes the way Clippers let him play through his mistakes. The Lakers weren’t really forgiving. He was benched in multiple occasions and head coach Darvin Ham forced him to embrace a bench role. Westbrook is not a bench player, but he thrived as a bench player for the Lakers. Unfortunately, keeping him around wasn’t an option and the Lakers sent him flying to Utah. The Lakers got D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley in the big trade and Westbrook was waived. Was this a good move? Absolutely.

Westbrook made a few stops in the NBA. He played with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Washington Wizards. His time with the Lakers was brought to an end and they are now trying to beat the Memphis Grizzlies in the playoffs. We can definitely say that Westbrook missed a chance to compete for a title. The Lakers look much better without him. Let’s see if they find a way to make the NBA Finals after a few disappointing seasons.
