Top Defensive Prospect Excited To Visit Bill Belichick and Patriots

The New England Patriots have to play smart this offseason. The team struggled in 2023 and head coach Bill Belichick changed the game. He has to get a really good player with the 14th overall pick. It seems like the Patriots have found the perfect defensive prospect for their roster.

Friday is a big day for Texas Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson. He will meet the Patriots for a pre-draft visit, giving Belichick a chance to look into his potential. Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated reported that the talented prospect will also meet with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals, and Las Vegas Raiders.

Analysts believe that Wilson won’t be available by the time Belichick gets to use his pick. However, the defensive end would love to spend time with the Patriots head coach. Here’s another fun fact. He would also love to beet Doug Pederson. Working with winners is always a big idea.

Patriots got the attention of the defensive prospect

Wilson has already met with the Patriots. Mark Daniels from MassLive reported that the defensive end talked to the Patriots at the NFL Combine. Belichick has experience as a defensive coordinator with the New York Jets and New York Giants. He’ll understand Wilson really well.

NFL teams will use their top picks to get Wilson. He is expected to find a home in the NFL in the top 10 picks. Wilson looks and performs like a starter which makes him a good fit for NFL defenses.

What makes Wilson so special? He was an efficient pass rusher in his two seasons at Texas Tech. He had 99 tackles and 14 sacks in two seasons. Sadly, the defensive end suffered a season-ending foot injury. This didn’t stop him from making the All-Big 12 First Team.

Belichick will probably trade down in the draft and this may affect his chances to get Wilson or other prospects like him.

The Patriots need strong players and Belichick has to fill a few positions on his roster. The team needs linebackers, cornerbacks, and efficient offensive players. Maybe he will address another issue in the draft.
