Key Lakers Free Agent Hints At Where He’d Like To Play Next Season

The Los Angeles Lakers may lose a few players in the offseason and one free agent has already talked about his future plans. D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, and a few others may leave the team this summer.

Hachimura joined the Lakers after an unsuccessful stint with the Washington Wizards. He didn’t have much success in the first few games with the Lakers, but became a dominant force in the playoffs. Hachimura did wonders in the postseason, offering a much-needed boost to the offense. The talented player caught the attention of many NBA teams and will probably get a few nice offers in the summer.

The Lakers will have to spend more money to keep the free agent on the roster

Hachimura has yet to commit to the Lakers, but did share a hint. Where is he going next?

“The reason why I requested the trade is that I wanted to be somewhere I could be happy and play basketball, that liked me as a basketball player, that believed in me, and the Lakers were one of the teams that was really interested in me,” Hachimura said on the June 9 episode of ESPN’s Hoop Streams.” “My agent and the team did a good job, and I went to the Lakers and it was a crazy season for me. … Back at that time, we didn’t even know we were going to make the playoffs. So we made the playoffs and the playoff run was pretty good, we lost to Denver but it was pretty good for us. I don’t know my future but I just want to be somewhere I can be happy. The Lakers have been good and we’re going to see.”

Hachimura could be an excellent addition to the team next season. He can perform at a high level whenever teams need him and yes, he works well as a fourth and fifth player on any team.

The 25-year-old is a restricted free agent and his performance in the playoffs could give him a big deal next season. The Lakers may invest in his future in case they don’t sign a big player next season.
