Lakers Deal With New Threat In Potential Race To Trade For Injured All-Star

Zach LaVine has shown interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers and it seems like the franchise is willing to make a move and get him. The Lakers may do an effort to trade for the All-Star, but they will definitely face some competition in the process.

Shams Charania discussed the potential trade for LaVine and his current market.

“The Sixers are continuing to look at the marketplace,” said Charania on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back” on December 21. “Look at their asset pool: three first-round draft picks they can trade. They have a bunch of contracts … So Zach LaVine, OG Anunoby, those are two names to keep an eye on as guys that Philadelphia has monitored, has a level of interest in.”

Lakers need to trade for the All-Star and a couple other players

The Lakers lost quite a few games following their win in the In-Season Tournament. LaVine may not be the only player to attract their interest. The Lakers could easily get Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan as well, per Jovan Buha from The Athletic.

“In conversations I’ve had in recent weeks regarding the Bulls, there is real interest in Zach LaVine. But I think it comes at the right price,” said Buha on the “Hoops Tonight” podcast on November 28. “I’ve actually heard that they’re more interested in DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso.”

Caruso knows the system really well and has already won a title with the Lakers. The franchise let him go easily and Caruso became part of the Bulls. He became a key player for the team and they will probably try to get a great player/pick in return. One thing stands for sure. The Lakers won’t include Austin Reaves in any trade deal. If they want LaVine, the Bulls may ask for the young Laker.

Sam Amick from The Athletic reported that the Sacramento Kings have also shown interest in LaVine, adding that this interest is mutual. Do not forget that the Kings signed LaVine to an offer sheet in 2018 and the Bulls matched it.
