Patriots Quarterback Mac Jones Broken Confidence Hit With ‘Deflating’ Assessment

The New England Patriots thought that they have found a true gem in Mac Jones, but the quarterback looks like someone who had lost all his confidence on the football field.

Jones was a top pick for the Patriots and NFL analysts thought that he would be the next franchise quarterback for New England. His rookie campaign was strong and Jones almost beat Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The hype surrounding Jones disappeared last season. His struggles on the field were too much to handle. Jones struggled to throw a touchdown pass and had a disappointing quarterback rating at the end of the season. Jones’ struggles continued in his third year with the team. Head coach Bill Belichick benched him on multiple occasions and Zappe was given a chance to start a game. Belichick is trying his options heading into the early offseason and let’s just say Jones’ position with the Patriots is hanging in the air.

Mac Jones could get his confidence back somewhere else

The Patriots have a 2-10 record at this point of the season and Jones took most of the heat. A NFL scout discussed Jones’ skillset and his potential on the field. Can he lead a NFL team at this point? According to the scout, Jones needs a change of scenery or even a different coach.

“He can make that throw 99 times out of a 100,” claims a source close to the situation, “With his eyes closed,” the scout added, per Hallie Grossman at ESPN.

Jones approaches the end of his most disappointing season so far. He has a 36.5 quarterback rating, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. If Jones wants to improve his stats, he should consider going somewhere else.

“He’s still Mac. But you can tell he’s taken a few bullets,” added the source. “You can see it in his face. You can see it in his eyes. Can see how he’s been deflated.”

The Patriots will make a lot of changes in the offseason and one of them is related to Jones’ future as their starting QB.
