Bailey Zappe Peels Back Curtain On Patriots Relationship With QB Mac Jones

The New England Patriots struggle to win games. Their record is even worse now and players are not really happy about the 2-10 disaster. New England couldn’t beat the Los Angeles Chargers and added another loss to the chart. It was an awful 6-0 loss and one thing caught everyone’s attention. Bailey Zappe started the game instead of Mac Jones.

Head coach Bill Belichick insisted that Jones is his starting quarterback but it seems like he is willing to give Zappe a chance. Zappe made a big promise to his head coach and many thought that won’t have a chance to start games this season.

Zappe took the lead of the offense and brought a whole new scheme on the football field. How does Jones feel about this? Well, Zappe has nothing but support for him. He even claimed that Jones offered great support in the loss to Los Angeles.

“He helped a lot as far as the preparation throughout the week,” Zappe said during his appearance on WEEI’s “Jones and Mego” show on Monday. “Me watching film and him watching film. Sometimes I pick up things and he picks up on things.”

Zappe and Jones join forces

The Patriots quarterback is not really focused on the starting job. He just wants the Patriots to win games. That’s all. Jones had his opportunity and Zappe was more than happy to take part in the big change.

“He’s a good teammate,” Zappe said of Jones. “Between both of us, we both want to win. That’s the main thing. Whoever is out there, we’re going to try to help each other out to achieve that goal.”

Patriots quarterbacks have joined forces to elevate the game. Everyone contributes to the plan, including Malik Cunningham and Will Grier.

“We just combine minds with all four of us in me, (Jones), Will, Malik, all of those guys,” Zappe detailed. “Whatever one of us sees, we tell the other, especially in the game. If he saw some things, he’d let me or (Bill O’Brien) know. We kind of try to have an awareness of it the next drive.”
