Lakers’ Christian Wood Fulfills 10-Year-Old Promise To Mom In Emotional Moment

Christian Wood is one of the many athletes who kept the promise they made many years ago. The talented Los Angeles Lakers player promised to buy a home for his mom and he was finally able to do it. Young athletes dream of giving back to their parents and ease their life in many different ways. Wood did the same for his mom.

“Life goal…(I) promised my mom at 18 with no money I would get her the house of her dreams before I’m 30,” Wood wrote on his account. “Fast forward to now, I did that! I love you!”

Wood was motivated by the promise he made

Wood worked really hard to get here. His hard work paid off and he became one of the better players in LA. The promise he made years ago motivated him to play his best basketball. His offensive game has been fire and he averaged 16.6 points per game with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Lakers had a few good reasons to get Wood. They did give him a smaller role. He averages 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds with the team and he is happy to accomplish everything he was asked to do.

“I’m not playing a role I played the last four or five years, which was being a high-usage guy, taking a lot of shots,” Wood said. “Playing this role player role, where I’m trying…if the team needs help with rebounds, I have to try and help rebound. And whatever they need to do, I’m there to do.”

Wood is a great professional and a selfless teammate. He is always turning heads for the right reasons and this story is definitely one of a kind. Let’s hope younger athletes follow his example and surprise their parents.

When it comes to the Lakers, they need some help to get things going. Health has been a major concern for the team, but hopefully, players will be able to overcome their struggles.
