Latest Update On Patriots Contract Talks With Kendrick Bourne

The New England Patriots let head coach Bill Belichick go after over two decades. They also parted ways with some of his favorites. Will the Patriots give Kendrick Bourne a new contract?

The veteran wide receiver showed better results than any other receiver in New England. He signed a deal with the team in 2021 and turned out to be a solid WR option for Belichick. However, Bourne will enter the open market next month and NFL analysts dropped several speculations on his future in New England.

Bourne’s 2023 season with the Patriots was pretty solid. He had great performance in the first seven games of the season. An ACL tear put an end to his season after the loss to the Miami Dolphins and the Patriots ruled him out for the rest of it.

Bourne has yet to discuss his contract situation with the Patriots

The wide receiver looks and feels good at the moment. If you ask him, he will say that re-signing with the Patriots is his best option. Ben Volin from The Boston Globe talked to Bourne ahead of Super Bowl LIII. The receiver told him that his recovery goes really well and everything looks good. He walks and moves without any trouble and looks forward to another great season.

In eight games with the Patriots, Bourne had 37 reception for 406 yards and four touchdowns. He was a key player on the Patriots roster and one of the few bright stars on the field. The Patriots offense struggled over the last few years, but Bourne looked good on the floor.

Will this great performance secure him a nice deal in 2024? Will he even stay in New England?

Bourne’s recovery goes well, but we don’t know if the Patriots are willing to bring him back. Mike Reiss from ESPN reported that there are “no substantial contract extension talks” between his agent and the organization.

Jerod Mayo is gathering his team ahead of the 2024 season and has yet to make a statement on Bourne. Let’s see what happens in the offseason.
