LeBron James Lists Anthony Davis As ‘Defensive Player Of The Year’ After Lakers Beat Pistons

The Los Angeles Lakers had an easy win over the Detroit Pistons and LeBron James made an honest claim about Anthony Davis. According to the four-time NBA champion, Davis is the Defensive Player of the Year.

In the win over the Pistons, Davis played 28 minutes and delivered 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six blocks.

“He’s our Ray Lewis. Our captain. Our middle linebacker,” said head coach Darvin Ham.

LeBron had a great performance, too. He scored 25 points and eight assists.

“Defensively, we’ve been on a string. And if anything breaks down, the Defensive Player of the Year cleans it up for us,” said LeBron.

Many would say Davis faced a big challenge in the game and LeBron couldn’t agree more.

“We was testing him,” said the superstar. “We turned the ball over and then absolutely nobody got back. And it was a 3-on-1 and we was testing if he was the Defensive Player of the Year or not, and he showed it.”

LeBron knows Davis can get the Defensive Player of the Year award

Davis is trying to play his best basketball and he even cracked a joke about it. Well, he had a good reason to do so.

“Just one of many special plays I’ve had this year. Just trying to be a good defensive player. That’s all.”

Davis was relatively healthy this season and he can easily grab his second rind. It’s a big challenge for the big man, but he is ready to go for it.

“I feel like I should have won it a couple of times, but didn’t,” AD said postgame. “At this point, I’m just trying to win. Continue to try to have a presence on the defensive end. If that seems to be in the plans for me to win it this year, then obviously it’ll be exciting for me to have one of those under my belt. But, I feel like I got hustled out of a couple of them in my career. So, it is what it is.”
