Jimmy Butler Sparks Lakers Rumor With Courtside Comment

Jimmy Butler knows how to make people talk and this time he sparked a Los Angeles Lakers rumor. The Lakers have been linked with too many players lately and now we can add Butler to the mix.

The NBA star was spotted at a Los Angeles Sparks game. He received a lot of fun questions, including one related to rookie Cameron Brink. As you may have noticed, Brink wears a No.22 jersey.

Butler used the opportunity to mention “purple and gold” jerseys. Yes, the whole thing went all the way to LeBron James and the Lakers. Let’s not forget that Butler also wears Number 22.

“For some reason, No.22 just looks good in purple and gold,” Butler told reporter Nikki Kay.

Once again, Butler triggered an avalanche of reactions. He negotiates a contract extension with his current team, but NBA experts believe that he will actually go somewhere else. Could he be on his way to LA?

Others claim that Butler may actually team up with LeBron and Anthony Davis and create the best Big 3 in LA.

Lakers have a chance to get Butler

Butler has a player option for the 2025-2026 NBA season. He can get a contract extension this summer, but things may take a different turn. If Butler doesn’t get an extension with the Miami Heat, he may end up on the trade block and sign with another team.

The Heat star averaged 20.8, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.3 steals this past season. Butler could be an excellent contributor to any team he joins.

Pat Riley fueled trade speculations with his comment on Butler’s contract extension. He didn’t seem too convinced that the star player should stay on the Heat roster.

“We don’t have to do that for a year,” Riley said during the end-of-season press conference. “And so, we have not discussed that internally right now, but we have to look at that, making that kind of commitment.”
