Report: Former Lakers Star Comes Out Of Retirement
Lamar Odom gave up professional basketball in 2014 and since then, life hasn’t been kind so him. He has had some pretty rough few years including a near-death experience in 2015, when he was found at a Nevada brothel.
Fortunately, he has recovered well enough from that incident to decide to return to the basketball once again, announcing that he is coming out of retirement.
The 38-year old New York native is set to play in China, with Stephon Marbury’s lauded overseas career serving as his inspiration.
In a previous Instagram post, Odom announced that he was making a big change to his locale by accepting a new management deal with the 90 Plus Group that would relocate him to Shenzhen, China. The since deleted post read in part,
“It’s a huge step for me and I feel so happy to be writing new episodes of my life in another country that’s so HUGE in basketball.”
While a return to the NBA is probably not a possibility, the fact that Odom is healthy enough to play and his decision to return on the right track are wonderful news.
