Report: Patriots Made Big Changes To Tom Brady’s Contract

Tom Brady is getting even better as days go by. New England Patriots are using well his talent, and the team is getting closer to the Super Bowl. Now the organization has great news for Brady’s contract.

The Patriots and Brady are expected to restructure his contract, and the information was confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The new deal will bring Brady up to $5 million in incentives.

“The #Patriots are adding $5M in incentives to the 2018 contract of QB Tom Brady, source said. He’s on the books for $15M this season, so he could make $20M in all… or still a bargain,” Ian Rappoport said.

Brady was told to make $15 million in 2018. But, the Patriots will give the $5 million incentives to provide him with the opportunity to get his pay closer to the market value. Brady’s contract is still a steal for the Patriots even with the bonuses he gets.

Brady’s former backup Jimmy Garoppolo signed a deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Garoppolo’s deal is worth $137 million, and there’s also this $35 million signing bonus.

Kirk Cousins signed his new deal with the Minnesota Vikings, and inked a three-year deal worth $84 million.

The Patriots quarterback brought the team to Super Bowl LII, but they lost the battle to Philadelphia Eagles. Brady won the NFL MVP award last year. 4,577 yards seem good enough, right? He also had 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The New England Patriots made a similar adjustment to Gronk’s contract in 2017. His deal fell below the market, and the Pats kept the Gronk’s base salary, but provided him with the opportunity to get to $10.5 million. Gronkowski’s incentives are tiered, and he reached the top tier at $5.5 million, and got $10.5 million.

Any contract changes in near future? Maybe.
