LeBron James Jumps In To Help Kids Rebuild Homes in New Orleans

LeBron James is not just a regular basketball star that only runs after rings. The NBA player is spending every bit of his free time in helping those in news. He build a public school for at-risk youth in his hometown Akron, Ohio. Now it’s time for New Orleans.

LeBron has been helping vulnerable groups in communities. He didn’t have the happiest childhood, and that helped him grow into a professional athlete and a successful producer. LeBron knows that there are so many kids who need someone to stand for them, and that’s exactly what he did. The king of basketball and 23 Ambassadors helped rebuild distressed homes in New Orleans.

LeBron was doing this to stabilize the community and bring impact on the education system that still recovers after Hurricane Katrina struck the area. The basketball star wasn’t alone in the effort, and enjoyed the help of the youth-run organization Youth Rebuilding New Orleans and high school students from his hometown.

“I’m proud to have my 330 Ambassadors in New Orleans to help me give back to this great city. Change starts from the ground up, so I’m happy we have the opportunity to do something that really makes a difference for people in this community,” LeBron said at the time.

This is not the first time LeBron helps those in need. The LeBron James Family Foundation works on many similar projects, and the Ambassadors from his foundation are doing their best to extend their help beyond the Akron community.

“Each year these projects have gotten bigger and the goal is always to have an impact that lasts long after the All-Star festivities are over. For our ambassadors, it’s about showing them the importance of giving back and helping others so they can continue to set that example when they go back home to their own community in Akron,” said Michelle Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation.
