Watch: Julian Edelman Takes Part In First Practice

Julian Edelman was suspended for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy. He missed the first four games of the regular season, and now he is back. The wide receiver was spotted at Gillette Stadium right after his suspension was brought to an end at Sunday midnight.

Edelman will take part in the Patriots Thursday Night Football game with the Colts. The Patriots started their on-field preparations, and Edelman had his first session after returning to the field.

The wide receiver was a full participant in the practice, and the team even posted a video of him and his teammates on the Patriots official Twitter account.

“It was good to see him. I’m glad he’s here. He brings the energy in our room. It’s going to help us a lot,” Phillip Dorsett said of Edelman.

“I wasn’t here when the red carpet was rolled out, or the trumpets, or the flowers thrown. But I heard it was quite the spectacle,” Dwayne Allen said jokingly.

The wide out will provide a huge help in the passing game for the Patriots. The team had too many problems with the receiver unit. The only concern is related to the fact that Edelman hasn’t played since Super Bowl LI against the Falcons. He missed his last season after dealing with a torn ACL.

“I think we’ve played so much football together. I really have no doubt where he’s going to be at, what he’s capable of. He’s been a great player for our team. I think everyone’s excited to have him back, and anytime you add great players, it’s going to help what we’re doing. We all welcome him back and he’s excited, ready to go and hopefully he can go out and play great. Hopefully we can all go play great,” quarterback Tom Brady said of Edelman’s return.

“We’re going to need it. This team has been close in all three of their losses. They were ahead in the fourth quarter of each of those, so they’re a dangerous team. They’ve got a good quarterback, good offense and young defense that does some things that presents some challenges. We’re trying to get on top of those things, really understand where our opponent’s at and let’s go play well, try to win a game.”
