Report: Patriots Sign Colts’ Running Back To Practice Squad

The New England Patriots are all about changes at the moment, and they have added a running back to their practice squad.

According to Doug Kyed of NESN, the Patriots signed Josh Ferguson to the practice squad. The team worked him out on Tuesday, and it was more than enough for the Pats to keep him around.

Ferguson went undrafted out of Illinois in 2016, and inked a deal with the Indianapolis Colts. He played the first two years of his professional career with the team. With the Colts, Ferguson was active for 26 games, and had 16 carries for 25 yards. He hauled in 23 of his 30 targets for 152 yards. Ferguson was also successful as a kick returner as he managed to field nine kicks in his career for 166 yards which gave him a 18.4 yards per return average. Ferguson made a stop with the Houston Texans, and was part of their practice squad.

The Patriots had a free spot for Ferguson after they released Kenneth Farrow from the squad on Tuesday. Farrow was added to the 90-man roster as an extra player for the preseason finale against the Giants this summer. After the game, Farrow was released during the last roster trimming. In the Patriots’ preseason finale, Farrow carried the football five times for 24 yards, and caught all three of his targets for 14 yards.

Farrow did not make the opening day roster, and the Patriots added him to the practice squad on September 12. The team released him in order to get wide receiver Corey Coleman, and then got him back to the practice squad. So, he was in and out the whole time.

The Patriots will do whatever it takes to keep things at this pace. Hopefully, they will win the Super Bowl again.
