Lakers Star Could Miss Game Vs. Warriors Due To Health Issues

The Los Angeles Lakers cannot wait for JaVale McGee to return. However, things may not go as smooth as fans expect. McGee may not play in the game against the Golden State Warriors.

Chris Hayes of Yahoo Sports reported that McGee was released from the UCLA Medical Center on Saturday. The basketball star was admitted Thursday, and that 104-degree fever says pretty much everything about his condition. McGee was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Right after his release, McGee said his status was day-to-day, and yes, his game on the court was in jeopardy.

“I feel a little better. Surprisingly, I didn’t lose any weight. All I can do is get healthy and get back in shape as soon as possible so that I can contribute towards making us a playoff-contending team. This is such a great organization, and the way we’re battling and the way our young fellas are holding it down with the injuries we’ve endured is incredible. I’m proud of how we pulled off that game against New Orleans. I just can’t wait to get back,” McGee said.

“That’s the only thing, the only game I’ve been thinking about while being bedridden is the Christmas Day game. No offense to the other teams, but that’s really important to me. I’ve got to get better for that game,” the Laker said.

McGee will get his championship ring for the 2017-18 from Andre Iduodala and the Warriors.

“We’re excited to see him. He was a huge contributor,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said.

McGee said the last two years with the Warriors and won two championships. During his time with the Warriors, he averaged 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 9.5 minutes per contest.

As a Lakers starter, McGee averages 11.8 points per game and has 6.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 23.5 minutes per game.
