Tom Brady Reacts To Josh Gordon’s Suspension

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady did not have much to say about Josh Gordon and his suspension.

There wasn’t much reaction,” the quarterback said when asked about Gordon;s suspension. The receiver was hit by an indefinite ban for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the league’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Josh Gordon leads the New England Patriots with 720 receiving yards in 11 games. He has 40 receptions that rank fourth on the team, and Gordon’s three receiving touchdowns rank third.

“We all wish him the best. I think that’s how we all feel. We want him to do what’s best for him,” Brady said.

“I certainly appreciate all of his efforts and hard work. I just didn’t have much of a reaction. I’m just focused on what I have to do and that’s kind of the way it’s been all year.”

The quarterback said he did not know anything about Gordon’s condition before the receiver announced his decision to leave the squad and work on his mental health.

“I showed up. I heard just like everyone else,” Brady said.

When asked if he talked to Gordon since Thursday morning, Brady said, “Those are all very personal things. I’ll keep those to myself.”

Head coach Bill Belichick talked about Gordon, too.

“I spoke with Josh yesterday morning as I have several times since he’s been here. It’s obviously an unfortunate situation. Personally, I wish him the very best as we all do on this team. He’s made a statement. The organization has made a statement. The league’s made a statement. I’ve spoken (about) him at length over the last three months. So, I don’t really have anything at this point to add to that. It’s a private matter. Hopefully he’s able to deal with it successfully,” Belichick said of Gordon.
