LeBron James Can’t Ignore Lakers Dysfunction Anymore After Ty Lue Fiasco

LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers to win championship, and Magic Johnson was the reason he came to town. The resignation of Magic Johnson shocked the Lakers nation, and LeBron James couldn’t believe that Magic is gone.

Magic’s decision to step down from his position as director of basketball operations. The team fired Luke Walton, and shut down the negotiations with LeBron’s former coach Tyronn Lue.

“They’re still the Lakers by name,” an agent told Bleacher Report. “But the infrastructure, the assets, the front office, those are big questions.  What’s the plan? Who’s really in charge?”

Lue is out of the picture now, and LeBron has few reasons to be concerned about his role in Los Angeles and the empty coaching position.

“I think what LeBron is learning is how important a strong, stable front office is to his success,” said a source close to LeBron’s relationship with Lue. “For the Lakers not to close this deal, they must have put something on the table that Lue wasn’t comfortable with. What was that? If that’s the case, they don’t know what they’re doing.”

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin reported that Lue turned down a three-year contract worth $18 million. He wanted a salary that matches his championship success. Walton was offered a five-year deal when he signed with the team in 2016.

Tyronn wasn’t really into Rob Pelinka’s plan to bring Jason Kidd in Los Angeles.

“Ty wanted no part of that,” another agent said. “He must have been thinking, ‘Great, all I have to do is start 8-8, and I’m out of here and Jason Kidd is the coach.'”

The Lakers need someone to coach LeBron.

“[Lue] didn’t make it all about LeBron,” said a person familiar with their relationship in Cleveland. “But obviously, when you’ve got superstars like he had in Cleveland, with LeBron, Kyrie [Irving] and Kevin Love, he made it a point to take the time and try to understand everybody’s needs. You saw that in the play-calling, whether it was certain packages for K-Love or certain packages for Kyrie, and then you had LeBron’s stuff. He was really good at that.”
