Warriors Owner Addresses Futures Of Steph Curry And Klay Thompson

The Golden State Warriors is really happy with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Warriors owner Joe Lacob doesn’t want to see his players wear another uniform.

“Obviously, my intention is to keep them as part of our organization forever,” Lacob said of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. “That’s our goal. We’ll see what happens.”

Curry’s contract expires in 2022, and Thompson will become free agent this summer. Lacob said the same about Warriors forward Draymond Green.

“He’s Draymond Green,” Lacob said. “… I want Draymond Green to be here forever. He’s as Warrior as they come.”

Lacob will have to pay something extra to keep his players on the team. green made financial sacrifices to benefit the team. Well, he may not be interested to do the same thing.

“I took less so we could go after KD,” Green said last June. “I am a student of this game, and I studied the business side of it and the numbers, where some people don’t. They leave it up to their agent to do it… So it’s about what’s important to you. And I knew how important it was to me and the opportunity we could have if I did what I did. And I didn’t need [Warriors general manager] Bob [Myers] to explain that to me. Bob never once explained that to me. I knew it going in. So that’s where I based my negotiations at. The number I asked for, I got.”

Thompson will also try to get some extra money. He may leave the team if they don’t follow his request.

“I’ve said it many times before: I would like to be a Warrior for life,” Thompson said in August, via Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group. “Contract negotiations are way down the line. But I think we all have the same interest. I would love to be here for the rest of my career… I’m going to be a free agent in 2019. Number one on my list would obviously be to stay with the Warriors.”

Will the Golden State keep their top players on the roster?
