Report: Klay Thompson’s FA Decision Revealed

This summer will be really important for most NBA teams, including the Golden State Warriors. The team will have to make a few big decisions, and hopefully, their plans will work. Klay Thompson is set to become a free agent, and Kevin Durant has already declined his player option with the team. The Warriors will probably offer Thompson a big deal in order to keep him on the roster.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Warriors will offer Thompson a max contract which would cover five years. The new deal will be worth $190 million.

“The Golden State Warriors are planning to offer All-Star guard Klay Thompson a five-year, $190 million maximum contract when free agency opens Sunday at 6 p.m. ET — which is expected to accelerate the process of general manager Bob Myers and Thompson’s agent, Greg Lawrence, quickly reaching a formal agreement, league sources tell ESPN.

“Thompson and Lawrence have indicated throughout the past year that the five-time All-Star guard planned to return to the Warriors if offered the full five-year max deal — and that’s on course to happen now, league sources said.”

Shams Charania from The Athletic confirmed the same thing.

“Sources: Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors plan to reach agreement on a five-year, $190M maximum contract, with the Warriors sending a front-office contingent to Los Angeles to visit Thompson within the next day.”

Warriors players will be really happy if Thompson accepts the offer.

“It’s just tough in terms of a guy like Klay that left it all out there,” Stephen Curry said after the Game 6 loss to Toronto. “He was playing amazing tonight. And to see a freak play like that where he lands awkwardly. I don’t know the diagnosis yet, but you think about the person and the guy and how much he loves to play the game and that’s the only thoughts you have. It’s really not about what it means in terms of playing basketball. It’s just I’m more concerned about him as an individual.”

Things are getting really hot in the Golden State. Will Durant rejoin the team. Will Thompson accept the offer?
