Report: Josh Gordon Fined For Facemask Penalty Vs. Jets

Josh Gordon was injured in the game against the New York Jets, but it looks like he earned a fine, too. The Patriots receiver was fined $10,527 for grabbing the facemask of Jets cornerback Nate Hairston during last Sunday’s game. The information was confirmed by several sources.

Many say it’s a big punishment for a minor infraction.

Gordon caught his other hand on Hairson’s collar, and suffered a finger dislocation that sent him to the medical team on the sideline.

However, this doesn’t change the fact that Gordon feels good about himself and the Patriots.

“It feels like I’m back home,” the veteran wide receiver said. “It’s a home environment — a family environment. I love these guys. They (rallied) around me to support me and show me love, and I appreciate that each and every day that I’m here. It’s just easy to come in and do what I have to do.

“Last year was kind of on the fly,” Gordon added. “I got traded (two weeks) into the season. I had to pick it up as I was going along. And with the injury at the same time, it was a lot to take on. This year, I have more familiarity with it. I got extra time in the offseason to study what I already knew, and then when I got in here, I was able to kind of pick up where I left off — and even better, I would say. So it’s pretty smooth right now.”

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had words of praise for his wide receiver.

“He’s doing a great job,” Brady said of Gordon. “We got him late last year into the season — Week 2 — and it’s a lot to pick up. It’s a hard offense to learn. You try to integrate a guy and whether it was Phillip (Dorsett) the year before or Josh or this year with Antonio, it’s a lot for those guys to learn. The more we’re together, like any team, the more comfortable we get.”

Gordon likes where Brady takes the team. He said, “There’s so many intricate details. It’s to the T. It’s just different. That’s the best way I could describe it. It’s just different. I can’t say it’s like something that I’ve seen before, because I’ve never seen it before, this type of offense.”
Gordon has never played with anyone like Tom Brady.”
