Report: New England Patriots Announce Jersey Numbers

The New England Patriots made their final roster cuts, and their 53-man roster is complete now. Some of the players received new jersey numbers after the final roster trimming.

Jamie Collins wore No. 8 throughout the preseason. But, he will receive a new number. We saw him wearing Nos. 91 and 51 during his professional football career. Defensive end Deatrick Wise and linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley wear this numbers at the moment.

NFL linebackers wear numbers in the 40s, 50s or 90s. Collins will have make a decision regarding his jersey number. He may also reach an agreement with Wise and Bentley. This will have to happen until the regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to NESN’s Dough Kyed, Collins will have to pick between 41, 42, 44, 45, 47, 48, 58, 59, 92, 94, 95, 96, 97 and 98.

Rookie wide receivers N’Keal Harry and Gunner Olszewski got new numbers, too. Harry will sport No. 15, and Olszewski went from No. 9 to No. 80. This number was owned by Danny Amendola and Troy Brown. Tight end Stephenson Anderson wore No. 80 in the summer, but the team released him Saturday. Dontrelle Inman wore No. 15 in camp, and the Patriots released him a few weeks ago.

Wideout Cameron Meredith will get No. 19 after. He was assigned with the temporary No. 1 upon his arrival in Foxboro. Meredith will start off the new season on the PUP list. He is expected to join his teammates in Week 7.

Harry has No. 15, Olszewski has No. 80, Russell Bodine has No. 66, Korey Cunningham is No. 74, Jermaine Eluemunor will wear No. 65, Meredith is No. 19, Cajuste is 63, and Collins has the letters TBD next to his name.

The Patriots have made a few serious cuts. Many fans were surprised by the team’s decision to cut Bryan Hoyer. He has been a backup quarterback for the GOAT, and rookie quarterback Jarrett Stidham was given this role.

The Patriots will open the new season with a roster packed with talent. They are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1.
