Report: NFL Analyst Gives Update On Whether Jonathan Jones Will Be Suspended For Big Hit On Josh Allen

Professional football isn’t an easy game, and players are sometimes brutal. This isn’t something you should be concerned about, because that’s how the game goes. Everyone started talking about this after the Week 4 game between the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. Cornerback Jonathan Jones hit quarterback Josh Allen in the head. Bills fans weren’t happy with the idea that Jones stayed in the game, and Allen was helped to the sidelines. He didn’t come back.

Vontaze Burfict hit Jack Doyle in the head despite Doyle being down on one knee after a catch.

Jones and Burfict are flagged for penalties, but the latter is also facing a suspension.

It looks like Burfict will be suspended for the rest of the season as confirmed by Chris Mortensen.

“Burfict is no stranger to being fined and suspended for his actions on the field,” Patrik Walker wrote. “Aside from his four-game suspension for violation of the league’s PED policy in 2018, he was suspended four games in 2017 for an illegal hit on fullback Anthony Sherman and four games the year prior for an illegal hit on wide receiver Antonio Brown. His hit on Doyle makes for the third illegal hit in three seasons, and sets him up for another multi-game suspension, although the length is to-be-determined.”

Sidelining him for four games in the last two occasions didn’t help officials “tame” him. The NFL is ready to deliver a big message about player safety.

Jones doesn’t have the same character as Burfict, and his resume is really different. He will have to pay some cash, because the NFL doesn’t approve a helmet-to-helmet hit on a quarterback.

According to NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Al Riveron, there was no need ro remove Johnson fom the game.

“Well, we looked at it and in this situation, we didn’t feel that that contact rose to the level of an ejection,” Riveron told Bills pools reporter Vic Carucci. “The player (Allen) actually turns. Obviously, there is helmet contact, but we have standards for an ejection, and this did not rise to that standard; therefore, we did not eject him. There was a foul called and obviously the penalty stood, but we did not feel this contact rose to that level.”
