Mohamed Sanu Says His Connection With Tom Brady Will Soon Be On Par With Edelman

The New England Patriots offense has been struggling in the first eight games of the regular season, and Mohamed Sanu couldn’t quite fit alongside it. The veteran wide receiver was acquired in a trade deal, and head coach Bill Belichick was impressed. During the Patriots win over the Cleveland Browns, Brady targeted Sanu five times for two receptions and 23 yards. Julian Edelman helped Sanu get lined up on the line of scrimmage on a few plays. Sanu admittet it was one thing to learn a play at a mellow pace during walkthroughs.

“He’ll be further ahead next week but I’m glad he’s here and hopefully he’ll be able to contribute for us,” coach Belichick said during his postgame press conference.

“Man, I can’t wait to be on that page. That was a sight to see,” Sanu said on Sunday night after the game. “It’s going to be like that soon.”

Sanu promised to get in line with Brady and Edelman.

“You can see why (the Patriots) are the way that they are,” Sanu said. “You can see why they win as much as they do, with how deliberate they are at practice and … the time that the spend on keys and getting guys in the right position at the right time.”

The preparation led to his target on fourth-and-4 in the first half. He had a 5-yard reception for a first down.

“(Brady) saw the same thing that I saw and was on the same page, and I just made sure I was in the right place at the right time,” Sanu said after the game. “We talked about it earlier in the week. He said, ‘Just be prepared for this in this formation.’ And that was exactly what happened.”

When it comes to Brady, he praised Sanu’s good work.

“He worked really hard this week to really get up to speed and to play as much as he did,” Brady said postgame during a press conference. “I think it’s just going to be more and more confidence as he keeps going. He made a huge catch for us on fourth down, had a good crosser that he made a nice catch on, so keep just trying to find ways to get him the ball.”
