Report: Man Arrested for Stealing Tom Brady Jersey From Patriots Hall of Fame

Foxboro police arrested a Providence man Thursday after stealing a signed Tom Brady game jersey valued at $10,000 from the Patriots Hall of Fame outside Gillette Stadium.

Zanini Cineus, 33, was freed on his own recognizance after “after an innocent plea was entered on his behalf in Wrentham District Court to a charge of larceny from a building.”

Cineus had also stolen a blue glove, and carried it in a paper bag. The value of the glove has yet to be determined.

Police officers were canned to the Hall of Fame shortly before noon on a report that a man had taken Brady’s jersey from a simulated locker room and then walked out of the shop. According to the police, Cineus was wearing the jersey under his jacket when he was apprehended by Officer Joseph Godino in the parking lot at the west side of Patriot Place. Cineus told the police that he had stolen the jersey, and also admitted it in a short convo with a Sun Chronicle reporter at the courthouse after he was released.

Cineus told the police he took the commuter train to Patriot Place Wednesday and spent the night at the Hilton Gardens Hotel. He returned the item he bought Thursday and made his way to the Hall of Fame.

Godino was assisted by Sgt. David Foscaldo. Team Ops security called the police and they also have a video of the incident.

“Police make interception on items stolen from Patriots Hall of Fame ?

“Earlier today, Officer Joseph Godino and Sgt. David Foscaldo responded to Patriot Place to assist Team Ops Security with tracking down a suspect who stole memorabilia, including a game-worn Tom Brady jersey, from an exhibit inside the Patriots Hall of Fame.

“Working in conjunction with security personnel, Officer Godino located the suspect in question in the plaza parking lot area and subsequently discovered that he was wearing the stolen jersey underneath his jacket.

“The 33 year old male from Providence was taken into custody and charged with Larceny. He was later transported to Wrentham District Court for arraignment.”

This is a rather… hilarious story.
