Magic Johnson Says LeBron Will Be GOAT Over Michael Jordan

It looks like the GOAT debate will soon end. That’s what Magic Johnson suggests. LeBron is the best player in the league, and many have compared him to Michael Jordan. If you ask Johnson, he will say that LeBron needs a few more titles to cement himself as the GOAT in the NBA.

Johnson said that LeBron is closer than ever to claim the title from Jordan. At the 29th Annual Achilles Gala in New York City, Johnson said LeBron is a “special player.” He also said that the king is “playing as well as I’ve ever seen him play” in his 17th NBA season. LeBron has a few more things to do to get the well-deserved crown.

“For him to really catch Michael, it’s that next two or three championships,” Johnson said. “If he could get a couple more championships, then he’ll be probably the greatest that’s ever played.”

Johnson also gave credit to his former foe.

“For me on my books right now, I would say Michael [Jordan] was the freakiest player in the game. He was the greatest to play on the floor because I couldn’t jump as high… But Michael going 6-0 in the NBA finals, oh man. That’s awesome.

“I went to the finals nine times in 12 years, but we only won five. But I’ll take those five, trust me. As long as it was two more than Larry [Bird], that’s all I care about.”

Jordan isn’t the only legend Johnson admires. He also admires Bill Russell. The Boston Celtics legend won 11 NBA championships in his 13-year career. This isn’t something you underestimate, and everyone knows this.

“You have to give some love to Bill Russell with 11 championships,” Johnson said. “Always remember that.”

LeBron is interested in playing a few more seasons with the Lakers, but you can never tell what the future holds for his fans. He may switch teams and go somewhere else. But, we believe that he won’t go until he wins a title for the team. The Lakers need a title. They haven’t won one since Kobe Bryant’s era.
