Report: Julian Edelman To Undergo Surgery After Injury-Riddled Season

Patriots wideout Julian Edelman spent most of the season on the injury report, but he played through every injury he had. Edelman is probably the toughest player on the Patriots roster, and pretty much every teammate is impressed with his strength. Fellow wideout Mohamed Sanu once complimented Edelman on his willingness to play through pain. Well, it looks like the number of injuries was really big, and there’s an update on Edelman’s condition. The wideout will undergo a surgery.

Jeff Howe from The Athletic reported that the list of injuries Edelman had in 2019 is really long. The superstar wideout had ““a separated AC joint in his shoulder, a knee issue and rib injury that were described as serious enough that they would have ended some other players’ seasons.”

Howe also reported that “offseason surgery hasn’t been ruled out.”

Edelman will turn 34 in May. He didn’t miss a game in 2019, and he was actually one of the most productive pass-catchers in the league. Tom Brady’s favorite target finished the season with 100 receptions which is fifth-most in the NFL. Edelman had 1,117 receiving yards (18th) and six receiving touchdowns.

The wideout was really productive this season, but his injuries affected his game at some point of the home stretch. He was able to catch just 13 passes in the Patriots final four games. This includes three on five targets for 30 yards in the wild-card round against the Tennessee Titans.

Edelman has two years left of his deal with the Patriots. He took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the season. It wasn’t the best season for the Patriots, and everyone knows it. However, Edelman made sure everyone knows that he is ready for the upcoming season. He is waiting for 2020.

Brady has built a strong relationship with Edelman, and these two can win so many games together. The quarterback is set to become a free agent in March, but everything points to the fact that he will join the team for the upcoming season. His most recent Instagram post says pretty much everything you need to know about the upcoming season.
