Report: Tom Brady ‘Eager’ To Play Mentor Role For Young Quarterback

When Jimmy Garoppolo first came in the New England Patriots, Tom Brady didn’t seem too interested in mentoring a young quarterback. Now, however, the 42-years-old might be changing his tune. Brady, who will become a free agent March 18, reportedly wants to pass his knowledge to a young quarterback.

“Brady also is eager to take on the role of mentor to a young quarterback, no matter where he plays, hoping to leave any organization in good shape when he retires. Part of his legacy, he believes, could be tied to seeing future generations embrace the TB12 training and lifestyle regimen that Brady strongly believes has helped him play so long at such a high level,” writes CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora in his column.

The question is – will Brady mentor a Patriots’ player? Like Jarrett Stidham? Or is he going to move his career someplace other than New England?

Brady Is Considering Other Teams

In his latest interview, Brady addressed the rumors about his future in the NFL and said he’s open-minded about considering other teams.

“I’m open-minded about the process,” Brady said. “At the same time, I love playing football and I want to continue to play and do a great job. I’m looking forward to what’s ahead. Whatever the future may bring, I’ll embrace it with open arms.”

Kraft: ‘Brady Is Part Of The Family’

After all, it’s Brady’s decision. One thin is certain though – the Patriots will be more than happy to keep him. Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft made that pretty clear when discussing Brady’s status.

“Before the season started it was very important to Tom that he be free to do whatever he wanted at the end of the year. You know what I said to myself? That any person who plays 20 years for this team and helps us get to six Super Bowls, and been really selfless, has earned that right. I love the young man like he’s part of my family. Blood family. Anyone who’s done that has earned the right to control his future after 20 years. And you know, my hope and prayer is number one, he plays for the Patriots. Or number two, he retires. He has the freedom to decide what he wants to do and what’s in his own best personal interest.”
