Rod Woodson Delivers Strong Message To Robert Kraft About Tom Brady’s Free Agency

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the greatest of all times, but his contract situation is far from ideal. Brady is set to become a free agent for the first time in his professional career, and this is the least expected scenario for a star quarterback. TB12 wants to get the deal he deserves for his skills on the field. He spent years playing at below market value. However, New England may not give him what he wants. Will they manage to build a roster without Brady? Rod Woodson has something to say about this.

Rod Woodson and his theory

The former Oakland Raiders defensive back and Pro Football Hall of Famer went on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak & Bertand” on Tuesday and talked about Brady’s situation at the moment.

“I would be shocked — shocked — if Robert Kraft said, ‘Go ahead Tom, leave,’ ” Woodson said. ” … Robert Kraft: It’s your turn. I know Bill has gotten you six trophies. I got that. But you paid for that team. It’s your money. You choose what to do with that money.

“And if you let that guy walk, shame on you. Shame on you, because he deserves what he deserves. He’s given you a hometown discount his whole freaking career. That guy should be making $30 million every year, minimum. And he doesn’t ask for that. Because he wants other players, he wants to win. (This is) the one time you can give him what he wants. Give him $30 million. Give him $25 million. You have to give him that one year and say, ‘Tom: one year, $30 million, and then off to the sunset.’ (Kraft) should do that.”

Is Rod Woodson right about this?

You can bet he is. Brady leads the team to victories, and he is the main pillar of the organization. Without him, the New England Patriots won’t be the New England Patriots we know. Simple as that.

TB12 had a cap hit of $21.5 million in 2019, and the Patriots will have to spend $30 million on their star quarterback. We believe that many current and former players will agree with Woodson. Brady deserves all that money. He is the best quarterback in the league, but he isn’t the highest-paid. Why?

On one occasion, Brady said he is open-minded about his free agency. In other words, Robert Kraft has to make a really good decision. Brady won’t take any less than he deserves. Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks.

The quarterback and his family live in their Manhattan home at the moment. Will they move somewhere else? It looks like this decision depends on Brady’s future career plans. Let’s not forget that the Los Angeles Chargers are mentioned as a potential destination for the 42-year-old.
