Patriots Expected To Land 3-Time Pro Bowler

The New England Patriots are expected to add even more power to their squad. They made some calculations and got players who may contribute to the game. According to recent reports, the Patriots may also add a three-time Pro Bowler.

Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports reported that the Patriots may sign former Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott. Running back James Robinson was removed last week and New England needs a replacement.

“New England has young Rhamondre Stevenson as a potential offensive focal point, but after cutting the injury-riddled James Robinson before he could even make his Patriots debut, they could use proven insurance,” Benjamin wrote. “Elliott may be past his full-time days, but as a pass blocker and short-term rotational piece, he’d fit right into a typically crowded Bill Belichick backfield.”

The Dallas Cowboys released Elliott in March. He has yet to sign a deal and the Patriots have been frequently mentioned as a potential destination. He is a two-time rushing champion and had a MVP performance in 2016. In seven seasons in the NFL, Elliott had 8,262 yards and 68 touchdowns.

Elliott didn’t have the best performance in 2022 and reached a career low of 3.8 yards per carry. However, he did deliver 876 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. The Patriots could use his potential in the backfield.

There’s one issue though. Elliott had a nice deal with the Cowboys and the Patriots may not match the $90 million six-year deal.

Patriots will face difficulties when it comes to getting the Pro Bowler

The Patriots have a tight cap space and still view Hopkins as a potential target. Getting Hopkins will tighten their cap space even further.

Jeremy Fowler from ESPN says the Patriots still hope to get Hopkins.

“The Patriots feel that they’re in a pretty good spot; that they had a really productive visit with Hopkins on Thursday,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on Sunday’s “SportsCenter” via Bleacher Report’s transcription. “He showed up early in the morning and was there late into the afternoon, spent part of the night in New England there. Spent significant time in the building with Bill Belichick.”
