Report: Patriots, Tom Brady To Meet This Week

The meeting between the New England Patriots and star quarterback Tom Brady will take place this week. Brady’s agent, Don Yee, will meet with the team at the 2020 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. The information was confirmed by several sources, including NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

The NFL Combine revolves around players who are about to enter the league and start off a career with some of the teams. However, it also offers free agents to find a home somewhere else. Let’s not forget that Brady is the biggest fish among all free agents, and his offseason decision is probably the most important topic these days. Where will Brady go next? Will he re-sign with his team? Will head coach Bill Belichick give his star quarterback a two-year contract? There are so many things to take into consideration, and Belichick will probably play smart. Again.

Rapoport reported that Brady has had conversations with his team, but they have yet to have an official meeting. It looks like that meeting will happen this week.

Will Tom Brady and the Patriots reach an agreement in Indianapolis?

There’s no guarantee that both sides will reach an agreement. They will just meet.

“While, of course, there is so much discussion about the players yet to enter the NFL, so much of what happens here in Indianapolis involves the players who are going to be free agents over the course of the next month — none bigger, none more important than Tom Brady,” Rapoport said Monday. “Though he’s had some conversations with the Patriots — and his longtime representative Don Yee has as well since the Super Bowl since the playoffs and all that — they really haven’t gotten into any hardcore negations. It is possible that begins here in Indianapolis.

“At the least, the two sides are expected to meet,” Rapoport added. “… It should be the starting off point for dialogue, real dialogue over the course of the next month. Either way, nothing’s expected to happen until right up to the cusp of free agency at that point all sides should know what Brady’s plans are.”

Brady will turn 43 in August, and this will be the first time for him to enter the open market. According to his former teammate, Rob Gronkowski, this is an incredible opportunity for the star signal-caller. Gronk encouraged his former teammate and a good friend to test the market.

NFL teams will have the opportunity to contact Brady on March 16. That’s two days before the official start of the free agency.
