The New England Patriots will enter the regular season without their star quarterback. Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots for the first time in his professional career. This was a rather bold move for the quarterback, but we saw it coming. Brady spent his entire season with the New England Patriots.

TB12 announced his decision to leave the organization after two decades and six rings. Right after the huge announcement, Patriots owner Robert Kraft addressed the big change. Kraft talked to ESPN’s Mike Reiss about Brady’s decision to leave the Patriots.

“Tommy initiated contact last night and came over,” he told Reiss. “We had a positive, respectful discussion. It’s not the way I want it to end, but I want him to do what is in his best personal interest. After 20 years with us, he has earned that right. I love him like a son.”

Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots

Brady helped the team win six Super Bowls. The organization had great success during Brady’s time with the team. They reached nine Super Bowls and 13 AFC Championship Games.

We don’t know where will Brady play this season. He has yet to make a decision about his next move. What’s even worse, we don’t know who will replace Brady. The top internal option is 2019 fourth-round draft pick Jarrett Stidham is the only option at the moment. He learned from Brady, but it’s too early for Belichick to use him on the roster.

Third-stringer Cody Kessler is still under contract. The Patriots need to add at least one additional signal-caller through free agency, trade or the 2020 NFL Draft.

Brady took to his Instagram account to deliver the big news. He thanked the organization and his fans for all the support. Brady is leaving the Patriots, and it’s still hard for fans to accept it. His teammates popped up in the comments section. Josh Gordon wrote about their times together, saying that he was honored to even sit next to him. We will need a lot of time to accept this, but we trust Brady. He knows what’s best for him. He is off to something new.
