NFL Analyst Compares Potential Patriots Draft Target To Tedy Bruschi

The New England Patriots have their eyes on Zack Baun. Many agree that he is the Patriots’ next target. New England needs a linebacker and pass rusher and he fits perfectly in that aspect. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will make a pretty wise move, but a former NFL analyst has something to add on this one. According to Mike Tannebaum, Baun is just like former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi. Are the Patriots going after their next Bruschi?

Tannebaum is convinced that the Patriots would make a really bold move with this one. Baun is a talented player, and Belichick would surely use him well.

ESPN tasked a group of NFL analysts to assign player comparisons to some of the top prospects from the 2020 NFL Draft. Tennebaum picked Bruschi, and made a really good point.

“Baun is a defensive lineman-turned-linebacker who has great instincts and a big motor, reminding me a lot of longtime New England Patriots linebacker Bruschi,” Tannebaum wrote. “Former Pats assistant and current Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia spent a lot of time with the Wisconsin product at the Senior Bowl. Baun has a lot of upside.”

Have the Patriots found their new Bruschi?

The former Badger is entering the 2020 NFL Draft with a controversy hanging on his back. Baun tested positive for a diluted sample at the NFL Scouting Combine. He said this happened due to his habit to drink too much water. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the diluted sample won’t even have an effect on Baun’s draft status.

The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft will take place Thursday night. The New England Patriots have the 23rd overall pick. Who is coming to New England?

Latest development of events suggests that the Pats will go after another big name in this draft. They have traded Rob Gronkowski to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This gives them a few great options in this draft. How will Belichick create his next roster? He needs to find a quarterback, tight end, receiver, and a few other players. The only thing we can do at the moment is wait and see what happens this week.
