The New England Patriots were really interested in offering wide receiver Marqise Lee a contract six years ago. Lee e was a top draft prospect in 2014.

It looks like the Patriots have finally seen a chance to sign him on the first day of the 2020 NFL Draft. New England is signing Lee to a one-year deal as confirmed by a source. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first reported the big news.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released Lee this week. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Co didn’t lose any time to get him.

The Patriots offered the talented receiver a contract

The wide receiver missed most of the last two seasons du to knee ailments. He was able to catch three passes for 18 yards in 2019. Lee had 56 catches for 702 yards with three touchdowns in 2017. He saw action in 14 games back them. Many analysts agree that his best season came in 2016. In that year, Lee caught 63 passes for 851 yards with three scores. This was his his only full season.

Lee is the perfect addition for the Patriots roster. He will join Julian Edelman, Mohamed Sanu, N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, Damiere Byrd, Gunner Olszewski, Quincy Adeboyejo and Devin Ross on the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart.

New England is off to some great changes, and adding a talented wide receiver is always great. Lee will be of great help for the Patriots as they are trying to recover from the loss of quarterback Tom Brady.

When it comes to Brady, he is building his own roster somewhere south. Brady signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he is joining forces with Rob Gronkowski. The former Patriots players wanted to play together, and they will see some action in Florida. Gronk and Brady have won three titles together. Gronk will go after another. The Patriots will start off their first season without Tom Brady in two decades. Will they win a title this time? Without the GOAT?

One thing stands for sure. Belichick won’t let things slip down his hands. He has already been working on his great roster. Belichick is the master of drafting and he will make a few unexpected moves now.
