Damien Harris Will Have Bigger Role in Patriots Offense

Tom Brady will no longer lead the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl. He is now part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and many believe he will retire as a Bucs quarterback. There are also analysts who believe that Brady will win the NFL MVP and also help Tampa win the Super Bowl. Where does this put the New England Patriots? The team lost the key contributor in free agency and second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham is expected to take his place. This means that the Patriots will have to rely on their running game more than before. Former first-rounder Sony Michel is recovering from his foot surgery. What about Damien Harris and his role on the Patriots roster?

If Michel is unable to start the season or the Patriots want to proceed with caution, the 2019 third-round pick will be next in line to boost the running game.

If Michel doesn’t recapture the performance that helped lead the team to a title in 2019, Harris will see more action than other players. This includes Brandon Bolden and Rex Burkhead.

Michel has sustained a lot of injuries. Jarrett Stidham doesn’t have the same experience as Tom Brady. Will head coach Bill Belichick trust Harris and give him an expanded role in his second season with the team? Belichick may be confident about Harris’ performance and let him take some of the load.
