Report: Anthony Davis Has New Date to Decide on Player Option for Next Season

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis will have to make a decision on his player option and now he has a new date. Davis’ player option for free agency has been removed, and he will have the final word on Oct. 14.

The 27-year-old superstar is in his debut season with the Los Angeles Lakers and he is doing a really good job. Will the Lakers find a way to keep him around?

Former director of basketball operations Magic Johnson tried to get Davis, but the New Orleans Pelicans wouldn’t let him go. The first attempt was a failure, but the next move gave the Lakers a better chance. LA was able to acquire Davis from the Pelicans through a big deal last summer. This was one of the best deals the Lakers have made in the past few years.

Davis measures at 6 feet 10 and he is averaging 26.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Lakers. The team has the best record in the West, and they are considered contenders. Truth is, Davis, LeBron James and a few others have helped the team reach the top and they have a real chance to move even higher. Let’s not forget that the team defeated the Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks right before the season was suspended. LeBron and Davis make the best duo in the NBA, and the results are already out there.

Anthony Davis has a new date for his big decision

Should the big man pick up his player option for the upcoming season, he will earn $28.7 million.

Many believe that Davis will sign a big deal with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason. Well, one NBA agent is convinced that Davis should opt into his player option and wait on a long-term deal.

Davis is interested in winning a title at the moment. That’s the only priority Davis has at the moment. The veteran will try to win a title with the team when the season resumes on July 30.

The 2019-20 season will resume in Orlando, Fla. Some players don’t agree with this, and Kyrie Irving is definitely not interested in going back on the floor.
