Report: Multiple Lakers Players Considering Sitting Out Season Restart

LeBron James and Anthony Davis led the Los Angeles Lakers to the top. The team found a way to defeat the rivals in the West and won the very top. However, the coronavirus pandemic messed up their plans and players had to stay home during the lockdown. The NBA has made a decision regarding the potential return and players are supposed to play in July. Well, some Lakers players have a different opinion of the season restart.

Several members of the purple and gold consider skipping out on the potential restart. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that LA shooting guard Avery Bradley joined Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving in expressing his concerns about the return.

The Lakers player has also been Irving’s wingman in sharing communication among all players.

“Irving and Bradley have led the communication efforts of this group. Sources said Irving has been extremely vocal on NBPA calls during the suspension of the season, challenging executive director Michele Roberts and Paul last Friday about what efforts are being made to align the players and league for sponsorship and endorsement money — or whether it should be solely the players’ responsibility. This was Irving’s way of questioning the norms set forth by the NBPA, sources said.”

Charania also said that Dwight Howard was among all the players to suggest that playing in Orlando would affect the social movements combatting racial injustice and police brutality.

Howard supported “Bradley in his assertion the players needed to stand for change.”

NBA players have different opinions on this. The NBA included provisions allowing NBA players to sit out the games. It will also allow teams to have 17 players on the roster. Key players staying on the sidelines will affect the course of the season. It will also affect its integrity too.

Bradley and Howard aren’t really supportive of the NBA return. The entire nation struggles with problems related to racial injustice and police brutality. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has yet to make a decision on his role. Will he support Irving? Will he join the Lakers in their way to the top?
