Lakers Sign Son Of Hall Of Fame NBA Point Guard

The Los Angeles Lakers signed point guard David Stockton, the son of Hall of Famer John Stockton. The signing was confirmed by the team. LA has a packed roster, and they waived forward Jordan Caroline to make room for him. Stockton has enough chance to prove himself at training camp. It seems like he won’t make the NBA roster, because the last empty spot was filled by Dwight Howard.

Stockton is expected to play for the G League’s South Bay Lakers. They traded two first-round picks for the returning player rights to Stockton. Last season, the point guard played in Germany for Medi Bayreuth. If he plays for South Bay, he will join forces with other players linked to NBA superstars. Kostas Antetokounmpo, the brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, inked a two-way contract with Los Angeles in the offseason. Coby Karl coaches the South Bay Lakers. He is the son of long-time NBA coach George Karl.

The South Bay Lakers have a powerful history when it comes to raising perimeter players. Alex Caruso is probably the model Stockton is expected to follow. Caruso spent two seasons on two-way deals, but was brilliant in a late-season run with the NBA’s Lakers. This run gave him a two-year contract worth $5 million in the NBA. He will play a big role with the Lakers this season.

Stockton has 18 points in six games. He was great in the G league, and averaged 18 points per game in four seasons. The point guard is 28, and his long-term NBA potential is questionable. However, the Lakers saw something in him, and they are ready to invest in his future.

The South Bay Lakers shouldn’t have trouble selling jerseys this year. Stockton and Antetokounmpo will be two of the biggest players in the league, and they will have the name “Lakers” written across their chest.

When it comes to LeBron’s Lakers, they will have their first preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. LeBron missed the playoffs last season, and he won’t make the same mistake this season. Hopefully, he will stay healthy for the big game.
