Magic Johnson Says Lakers’ LeBron James ‘Definitely The MVP This Season’

Magic Johnson took part in the NBA MVP discussion and shared his thoughts on LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo. These two have the highest chance to win the MVP award for the season. The reigning league MVP may get the award. However, Magic Johnson said that LeBron should take the award, pointing out to his stats and leadership skills. Let’s just say that he made a really good point here. Many would agree with Magic Johnson and his take on LeBron James and the NBA MVP award.

LeBron can help his teammates improve their skills. He leads the NBA in assists. King James helped the Lakers make the top of the West. What else could you ask for? All that while being in his 17th season. Oh, and let’s not forget that LeBron is 35. His beard is grey and he plays his best basketball.

“LeBron James is definitely the MVP this season,” Johnson said in a Tweet on Tuesday morning. “He is almost averaging a triple double with 25 points, 10 assists, and basically 8 rebounds per game. His defense has been amazing and there is no better leader in sports!”

Magic likes LeBron

LeBron and the Lakers have a great case to win the championship. He is the MVP. LeBron helped the team sit on top of a competitive conference. Magic Johnson knows what he is talking about. Yes, he has always been a LeBron fan, but that doesn’t change the fact that LeBron is the king of basketball.

“LeBron James is a great basketball player, one of the all-time greatest that’s ever played the game,” Magic Johnson said in May. “LeBron James to me, when you think about all-around basketball players, he’s probably the best of all time. An all-around basketball player. … Thank god for LeBron because right now that’s what we’re watching. It’s his time. It’s his era, and he’s dominating his era.”

LA agrees with Magic Johnson on LeBron James and the NBA MVP award

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel agrees with Magic Johnson. He said that LeBron should win the MVP award, adding that “nobody impacts winning more than LeBron.” Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard said that LeBron deserves to be a NBA MVP this season.

“This season, I think it’s LeBron,” Lillard said in May. “You know, they’re [Lakers] the No. 1 team in the West, they’ve been consistent all year long, and for him to be at the age he’s at, with the amount of miles he has on his body, how often he’s talked about, the pressure they put on him with every little thing that he does, and the level that he’s performing at, I feel like — in my opinion — he’s the MVP.”

LeBron said that the regular season MVP award has never been a motivation for him. He lets his body and performance do the talking. From what we can see, he is the ultimate player in the NBA.

“As far as the MVP race I think I’ve shown what I’m capable of doing,” he said. “Not only individually, but from a team perspective with us being No. 1 in the West. There was a lot of conversation about ‘LeBron can do those things in the East but if he ever came to the West what can he do?’ I heard all of that, and to be able to have our team at the top of the Western Conference and playing the way we were playing at the time and the way I was playing, that’s definitely a good feeling.”

Will Giannis get the award?

The NBA won’t count the eight “seeding” games inside the bubble. Giannis recorded 30 points, 14 rebounds and six assists per game. His team has the best record in the league. In other words, the NBA may not give LeBron the ultimate award for his productivity.

LeBron is in his 17th season. He doesn’t even see the MVP award as the ultimate reward for his performance.
