This Patriots Veteran Believes ‘Sky’s The Limit’ For J.C. Jackson

J.C. Jackson has an impeccable style and great game. He will do wonders on the football field, and at least one Patriots veteran has great expectations for him. Jason McCourty is definitely a fan of Jackson and he has nothing but words of praise for his teammate.

McCourty talked about his teammate Sunday on “Double Coverage with the McCourty Twins.” According to him, Jackson has elite potential.

“Sky’s the limit for J.C.,” McCourty said. “I call him Jerald; I don’t call him J.C. But I tell my guy Jerald that all the time. His jump from Year 2 to Year 1 was a huge jump. (He had) a ton of success. I see no different in Year 3 for him. I tell him all the time, I think he has the potential to be — when you talk about some of the best corners in our game, I feel like he’s right there, and he’s only scratched the surface of how good he can possibly be as a corner. So I believe a ton in J.C. I think (the) sky’s the limit for him.”

The Patriots veteran is right about Jackson

Jackson is a key player for the Patriots. He went undrafted out of Maryland in 2018. The cornerback had eight interceptions in the past two seasons. He is tied with Stephon Gilmore for most on the team. Jackson had a 37.0 passer rating against in 2019, and he led all cornerbacks.

The talented player surrendered just one touchdown last season. Jackson has allowed more than 60 receiving yards just twice in 33 career games, including the team’s playoffs.

McCourty started the Patriots first 10 games opposite Gilmore in 2019 and then had to sit due to a groin injury. Other Patriots players share the same opinion about Jackson. According to Gilmore, Jackson “has the best ball skills” he has ever seen. Yes, we know that Gilmore has seen a lot of corners.

All eight of these picks came on passes that went at least 15 yards downfield.

The Patriots will have one of the strongest cornerback groups in the NFL in 2020. Gilmore, Jackson, McCourty, Jonathan Jones and Joejuan Williams are all here.
