Watch: LeBron James Delivers Powerful Message About Black Lives Matter

The clock was ticking under a minute before halftime in Orlando last night, and Lakers superstar LeBron James rushed past two defenders to slam his hammer dunk in transition. It was a beautiful scrimmage but the Los Angeles Lakers lost the game to the Dallas Mavericks. Well, the great LeBron James and other NBA players didn’t miss a chance to deliver a Black Lives Matter message.

LeBron split Jerry West in half while rushing through the big NBA logo at the tipoff circle. Filming crews spotted three words in block letter written on the court on top of the screens. “BLACK LIVES MATTER.” According to LeBron, this is something that should be considered permanent.

“A lot of people kind of use this analogy, talking about Black Lives Matter as a movement. It’s not a movement,” he said after the game. “When you’re Black, it’s not a movement. It’s a lifestyle. We sit here and say it’s a movement, and, OK, how long is this movement going to last? ‘Don’t stop the movement.’ No, this is a walk of life. When you wake up and you’re Black, that is what it is. It shouldn’t be a movement. It should be a lifestyle. This is who we are. I don’t like the word ‘movement’ because, unfortunately, in America and in society, there ain’t been no damn movement for us. There ain’t been no movement.”

LeBron James stands for Black Lives Matter

LeBron is 35 and he is playing his best basketball. But, he is more than a basketball player. King James is delivering a message all while trying to add another championship win to his portfolio. The three-time NBA champion had a humble beginning and he went all the way to the top. LeBron is the best player in the NBA and he is challenging Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo for the NBA MVP award.

Lakers big man Anthony Davis praised LeBron for his ability to make people listen.

This was LeBron’s first game in a Lakers uniform in over four months. His postgame comments made an impact and it’s more than obvious that LeBron is focused on bigger issues.

LeBron decided to shed light on justice for Breonna Taylor and her family. He was wearing an important message on his game shoes. The king of basketball wrote #Justice4BreonnaT on the shoes, and yes, he did deliver a message. He wants the Taylor family to receive the answers they have been looking for.
