Patriots Coach Bill Belichick Has Simple Message About Starting QB Competition

Bill Belichick has once again come out about starting QB competition. The New England Patriots are very much wanting to get back on track after a very pathetic looking 2019 season. At the helm last year was Tom Brady, who failed to do much of anything. It did not help the fact that they had very few offensive weapons.

This is one of the reasons they have been so active this off season. The Patriots have been picking up free agents left and right and it is no surprise that they are working on it. They definitely do not want yet another disappointing season.

Bill Belichick has been trying to keep his eyes on his new starting quarterback. Most people think that Cam Newton, a new signee could be the new starter in this coming season. But Belichick has made sure that this is not confirmed.

Patriots Coach Bill Belichick Has Simple Message About Starting QB Competition

“He’s an extremely hard-working player,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “First-guy in, last-one out type of guy. He’s really studied hard and has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense, our communication, our calls, nomenclature and so forth. I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete. We’re just working through it day by day. We have a long way to go.”

“We’ve got a very competitive competition at a very competitive position at the quarterback spot. It will be interesting to see how everybody does.”

“When we’re ready to do it, we’ll do it,” Belichick told reporters.

This is not surprising. The Patriots are well known for keeping their workings quiet. But it would be nice to see some insight into what they are seeing.

“We wanted to add competition,” Belichick said. “We always try to add competition to our team, and we felt like we’d be able to do that. He was very open to talking about and working with our situation. We were able to work things out. We’ll just take it day by day and see how it goes. I’m glad we have him.

“It’s been fun to work with him. He’s a very talented player with a unique skillset. Again, we’ll see where it all goes, but he’s got a lot to work with.”

What do you think they will do?
