Bill Belichick Praises One Patriots Player For Week 6 Performance

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t really say much about his players. However, he uses the right amount of words to describe great performances. New England has a 2-3 record at this point of the season, and players lost their Week 6 match against the Denver Broncos. The offense struggled on the floor, and veteran quarterback Cam Newton felt rusty. Well, one player had a good game, and Belichick noticed that. Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones was awesome in Week 6.

Jones had great performances in the AFC Championship against the Kansas City Chiefs. He did well in Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams. Belichick likes his game in Jones’ first five years with the team. Sunday’s game was one of the best games Jones has had during his time with the Patriots.

The 27-year-old saw snaps in the slot and at safety. He allowed just one catch on seven targets against the Broncos’ offense. The only reception he allowed went for 16 yards. Jones added one interception and one pass breakup.

Belichick praises the Patriots cornerback for his success in Week 6

Jones signed a nice extension last season, and keeps convincing the Patriots that they did a really good job. Coach Belichick praised his cornerback during Monday’s press conference.

“Jon was in on several pass break ups, also made some tackles around the line of scrimmage, did a good job in run for us, played a combination of safety and corner roles, but had a real productive game,” Belichick said after the loss to Denver. “He was tested multiple times and was really in good position, played the ball well. The interception he had was an outstanding play on the ball. He really tracked it well and made a heck of a catch. So, yeah, he had another good game for us. He’s been a really solid player for us this year and really in every year.”

Jones was one of the players in the secondary who played well in the loss. He had 84% of defensive snaps and 50% of special teams snaps. In the game against Kansas City, Jones played 100% of the defensive snaps.

New England will meet the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, tight end George Kittle, and receiver Deebo Samuel will give Belichick a big headache.
