Dwyane Wade Had Strong Reaction to Rumors of Chris Paul Joining LeBron James at Lakers

Oklahoma City Thunder finished as the fifth seed in 2019-20. Chris Paul led the team, and many thought that the team would reach greater heights. They didn’t and Paul may leave the team. According to recent rumors, the great Chris Paul may be joining LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Milwaukee Bucks are also in the mix.

Dwyane Wade took notice of the rumors and he is pretty excited about the Paul-LeBron pairing.

“If that moment ever happens, you’re putting some of the greatest basketball minds together,” the former Miami Heat star said on ESPN’s First Take. “You saw it this year when LeBron and Rondo were on the court together. These are two of the smartest basketball players that have ever played the game. You saw they thought the game two-three steps ahead of the opponents. Chris Paul is in the same conversation. I’ve always said LeBron, CP, and Rondo are the smartest basketball players ever. When you think about what LeBron and Rondo accomplished this year, how they made that team work, if you add CP to that same kind of mix, Jesus Christ that’s domination.”

Chris Paul may not be joining the Lakers

It seems like a perfect combination, but Paul will make $41 million in the upcoming season.

LeBron, Anthony Davis and Danny Green have a big contract with the team. To get Paul, the Lakers will have to get rid of 4 or 5 players.

Los Angeles was ready to add a third max contract player in the past offseason. They were going after Kawhi Leonard. Paul is older and has a bigger contract, so the Lakers may not even think of this possibility.

Most Lakers players are on value-for-money deals. Giving up 4-5 players to get one is ridiculous at this point. But adding Paul seems like a perfect plan. He will definitely keep the Lakers on top of the list. They are still considered contenders.

Let’s see what happens this offseason. Maybe the Lakers will find a way to get another superstar and give LeBron and Davis extra dominance.
