Patriots Being Dropped in Terrible Situation Vs Broncos

The New England Patriots are going to be dropped in a terrible situation vs the Denver Broncos this week. The Patriots have been struggling with positive COVID-19 test in week 4 of the NFL season. This is pretty bad timing. Before the positive tests, the Patriots were looking pretty good against the teams that they were up against. Cam Newton was the first to test positive which force a their game against Kansas City to be postponed.

The game was only postponed for one day, however. And without Cam Newton at the helm, the Patriots struggled mightily. This was especially true on offense. They failed to do much of anything at all on the offensive side of the ball. When going against one of the best teams in the NFL, this spells for trouble.

Cam Newton has been huge though. Bill Belichick talked about how good he has been recently.

“I think when you’re talking about mobile quarterbacks — guys that are tough to handle, can throw, run, make good decisions … — I would put him at the top of the list.  “Not saying there aren’t a lot of other good players that do that, but I would say of all the guys we played recently in the last couple of years, I think he’s the hardest guy to (defend).”

“He makes good decisions, can run. He’s strong. He’s hard to tackle. He can do a lot of different things. He can beat you in a lot of different ways. We saw that in the game in 2013. I would put him at the top of the list. I’m not saying the other guys aren’t a problem, because they are. But he’s maybe public enemy No. 1.”

But now, with Newton and their best defender Stephon Gilmore out, the Patriots are in a tough spot against the Denver Bronchos.

Will the Patriots be ready to play? Well, we would imagine that Belichick will have them ready to play. But that does not mean that they will have the talent to win. This is a whole different story.

The Patriot defense has been good so far this year. If they can keep it up without their best player we will have to wait and see.

What do you think? Do you think they can pull out the victory against the Denver Bronchos?
