Bill Belichick Explains Why Patriots Added Isaiah Ford, Isaiah Mack

Bill Belichick has explained why the Patriots went ahead and added Isaiah Ford and Isaiah Mack. The Patriots are working on a rebuild that might be more difficult than we originally thought. There was a lot of optimism going into this season. With Cam Newton at the helm, many people thought that the offense would take a step forward. Sadly, it seems like they took a step back instead.

The COVID situation definitely has not helped. It seems like the bad news started with the positive tests started rolling in. But Bill Belichick was clear that they had a solution.

“Today’s an important day in our preparation for the Broncos,” Belichick said. “We’ve had several days now of virtual meetings between the staff members and from the staff to the players. We’ve been able to cover a lot of things, but we haven’t spent any time together, so today’s our opportunity to do that. We look forward to that. One thing that we’ve learned this year repeatedly has been we have to be ready to adjust and adapt to changes and modifications and the way we do things and, in some cases, decisions that really come down to a very short amount of time that we have to be ready to adjust to.

“So we’re certainly taking things day by day — probably hour by hour would be more accurate. We’ll just see how we progress and then as we find out more on our end, or if there are other things externally that we can’t control that, then we’ll deal with those as they come. That’s the way it’s been all year. I think our team and our players have done a good job of handling those adjustments, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Now Belichick has talked about adding Isaiah Ford and Isiah Mack.

“We felt like both players could add depth at two positions we feel like we could use the depth at,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday in a video conference. “One claim, one trade. We’ll see. We won’t really be able to do anything with these players for another week, so we’ll see what happens then.”

“We have various ways of trying to do our research on all players,” Belichick said when asked if the Patriots solicited insight from any of their Miami connections or from Bolden, who opted out of the season due to coronavirus concerns. “… Whatever opportunities we have to research and gain information on players, that’s what we do.”
